February 16, 2024
4-8pm
Join us in collaboration with Musgrove + Company (Tecumseh Location) and the Tecumseh District Library for the second annual Coffee + Knit Event. Anyone interested in knitting (or crocheting) is invited to attend this free open knit event.
Community Knit
Sip on Musgrove + Company coffee while learning to fine tune your knitting skills amongst friends. This gathering is an open invite for all ages and all levels to share in the joy of a common art form. Bring your current project and knit with friends. Need help? Find answers from local knitting experts. Want to learn to knit? Volunteers will be on hand to teach. Extra needles and yarn will be available. You are also welcome to BYON (bring your own needles) and knit your own projects alongside fellow knitting friends.
Expert knitter Sonja, from the Tecumseh District Library, will be available with exciting new ideas and tips. She will have a free pattern for a quick 2-hour one skein cable scarf made from bulky yarn. The scarf can be completed within the timeframe of the event.
Knit with a Purpose
We will have information on hand to connect knitters with ways to use their knitting hobby to serve the community. We hope to fill the needs of the Tecumseh Service Club and Hospice of Lenawee with hand-knitted items such as hats, mittens, blankets, and scarves.
Yarn Pop-Up
Strawberry Blue Farm will be there! We will be offering our hand-spun and hand-dyed yarn from our very own sheep. Not only can you take a closer look at this locally sourced yarn, our "Meet Your Yarn" display allows you to meet the boys behind the yarn - our Southdown Babydoll sheep, Jeffrey and Dutch. Yarn will be available for purchase. Ten percent of all yarn sales, both pre-ordered for the event and at the event, will be donated to The Tecumseh Service Club.
Stop in and learn a new skill for the new year, or bring your skills and share in a sweet community event.
